Build your credit, from no score or a low one

We help you build a positive payment history and strengthen your credit mix. Then we show you what to do next.

What moves your score

The rule is simple: pay on time, every time, on accounts that report to the credit bureaus. The catch is that not every type of account reports.

35%
of a FICO score is payment history
30%
is how much you owe
6 months
of history for most people to get a first score

If your report has errors, that may be a repair job, not a build job. See how we work.

How we can help you build your history

  • Reporting monthly Credit Pros payments. Your monthly payments can be reported to the bureaus as an installment loan, which is recognized by both newer and older scoring systems, including the ones used for mortgages.
  • Alerts and advice. Timely alerts and personalized advice to keep your credit score on track.

Money Management Plan

We add positive payment history to your file each month and show you what to do next. Move up to the Success Plus Plan for $149 a month if your report also has errors. Results vary.

Questions about building credit

How long does it take to build credit?

About 6 months for a first score. Getting to a good score usually takes a year or more of on-time payments.

Does checking my own score lower it?

No. Checking your own score is a soft inquiry and has no effect.

What is the fastest way to raise my score?

Pay card balances down and fix errors on your report. Both show up the next time your accounts report.

Not sure what your credit history looks like?

We’ll show you exactly what’s on your file so you can figure out how and where to build.

This is a soft credit pull, so it won’t impact your score.
